NORSAN Omega-3 capsules contain a natural fish oil with a high omega-3 content. One daily dose (4 capsules) provides 1,500 mg omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA).

The high dosage makes Omega-3 Total capsules a good alternative to our oil in liquid form. It is perfect for those who do not want to take pure liquid oil or for those who travel a lot.

The fish oil contained in our Omega-3 capsules comes from sustainable wild-caught fish and is the same as we use for our tried and tested Omega-3 Total. NORSAN fish oil is extracted directly from the fish meat and not as a by-product from the fish liver. We fish small fish from sustainable wild catches such as sardines, mackerel and anchovies. After being caught, the fish is processed and cooled directly on the boat. The fishery is subject to strict Norwegian guidelines and has the recognized "Friends of the Sea" certification. The fish oil is then cleaned of harmful substances and PCBs and inspected in accordance with strict Norwegian regulations.

Natural fish oil - no concentrate

The Omega 3 capsules consist of natural fish oil - not a concentrate - with a fatty acid complex of over 50 fatty acids. The extraction and purification of our fish oil is gentle and preserves the natural fatty acid structure of the fish. The difference between a natural fish oil and a concentrate is that in concentrates the natural fatty acid structure of the fish oil is altered by various chemical processes in order to artificially increase the concentration of omega-3 fatty acids.

Unique 3-step purification with micro-distillation

For this purification, we use a modern plant in Norway that filters and purifies the oil from heavy metals, pollutants and PCBs in a unique way. At the same time, the valuable properties of the natural fish oil are preserved. The special refining process is based on an effective and unique 3-fold purification - while conventional processes in the industry only rely on purification in two steps, we additionally perform a special and unique purification with micro-distillation in a 3rd step, which precisely filters out the remaining pollutants. This allows us to offer the best and cleanest quality.

An oxygen-free processing environment is guaranteed for NORSAN Total Fish Oil, so that our oil is optimally protected against oxidation. Oxidation causes fish odor and has an unpleasant effect on the taste. The TOTOX value - oxidation value or "freshness" value of the oil (the lower, the fresher) - is in the low range of approx. 10, which confirms the high freshness of the oil.

SHOULD I TAKE OMEGA-3 CAPSULES OR OIL?

We at NORSAN are convinced that nature has put some thought into the composition of nutrients and foods and that natural, unaltered foods are therefore more easily utilized by the body.

We recommend that you decide according to your personal taste and feelings. Both products are an optimal source of omega-3 fatty acids and consist of natural fish oil from sustainable wild catches. Capsules are suitable for transportation when travelling and for people who do not like to take oil pure. Liquid omega-3 oil, on the other hand, is more practical to integrate into everyday life, as it can simply be added to food as normal oil and the taste is so pleasant that it can also be consumed pure without any problems. Furthermore, it is possible to check the quality directly by smelling and tasting it. Another aspect is the price difference - capsules are more expensive due to the additional step required in the manufacturing process, the production of the capsules, which has an impact on the final price. This means that the alternative product to the liquid oil costs more than the oil in its original form. How high must the therapeutic dosage be to achieve a positive effect?

The therapeutic dosage is over 2,000 mg of omega-3 fatty acids per day. This corresponds to approx. 5 capsules of omega-3 capsules. This dosage recommendation is based on the empirical values of over 3,000 fatty acid analyses and is therefore considered empirically tested.

Which gelatine is used in the products?

The gelatine used in the NORSAN Omega-3 capsules (Total, Arktis, KIDS Jelly) is bovine gelatine. Modified potato starch is used in our Omega-3 Vegan capsules.
