I have noticed that after filtering with your Valeacell filter the water still contains limescale and that deposits and grey residues form in the kettle and the carafe. Why is that?
Our Valeacell filters are primarily designed to remove harmful substances such as chlorine, heavy metals, microplastics and organic contaminants from tap water while leaving valuable minerals such as calcium and magnesium in the water.
Since limescale (that is, calcium and magnesium compounds) consists of natural minerals, our filter deliberately does not remove them, in order to preserve the mineral balance and pH of the water. This is why limescale deposits can still form in the kettle.
The grey deposits in the carafe usually come from fine activated carbon particles that can be released from the filter at the start or after prolonged use. They are harmless and can easily be removed by rinsing the carafe thoroughly.
Tips:
Rinse the carafe and the filter insert regularly with warm water.
Descale your kettle every 1-2 weeks, depending on water hardness.
Before first use, rinse the filter thoroughly under running water to remove excess activated carbon particles.
Alternatively you can combine both systems: a descaling jug first, then the Valeacell carafe.
