Care and cleaning - AORA W12 and W23 reverse osmosis systems

Yes. Alongside regular filter changes we recommend the following care measures, so that your AORA continues to deliver hygienically flawless water:

1. Descaling (every 6 months, before each filter change)

Limescale deposits can impair the performance of your system and shorten the life of its components. Descale as follows:

1. Pour 200 ml of citric acid (3%) into the tap water tank and fill up with tap water.
2. Leave to act for 15 minutes.
3. Then drain all the water using the 100 °C button; this reliably removes limescale residues inside the unit and at the outlet.
4. Finally rinse with fresh tap water.

Tip: please do not use aggressive chemical cleaning agents. Citric acid is food-safe and ideal for drinking water appliances.

2. Cleaning the outlet tap

Wipe the outlet regularly from the outside with a damp, soft cloth. For visible limescale marks a cloth soaked in diluted citric acid helps. Please do not use abrasive or aggressive cleaners, so as not to damage the surface.

3. After a longer period without use

• From 3 days: before first use, flush the system for at least 5 minutes and discard the rinse water. This reliably removes any germs that can form in standing water.
• 1 to 3 weeks: remove the filters, pack them airtight and store them in the fridge. Flush for 5 minutes before putting the system back into service.
• Over 3 weeks: the filters should no longer be used. Please replace the complete filter set before the next use.

4. Flushing during a filter change

After inserting new filters we recommend a manual flush, so that any production residues (for example fine carbon dust) are removed from the new filters:

• Place a container (at least 2 litres) under the outlet tap.
• Let approximately 2-3 full tanks run through and discard this water.
• The rinse water can be used for watering plants, for example.

5. What is not necessary

With proper use there is no need to dismantle or separately clean individual internal components. The Quickchange filter technology ensures that the water-carrying connections are renewed automatically during a filter change. As long as you keep to the filter change and descaling intervals, your system remains hygienically flawless.

Maintenance at a glance

• Replace pre-filter: every 6 months (sooner with hard water).
• Replace RO membrane: every 24 months (check the TDS value regularly).
• Descale the system: every 6 months, before the filter change.
• Clean the outlet tap: as needed, damp cloth, no abrasives.
• Flush after non-use: from 3 days idle, at least 5 minutes.

In summary: with regular filter changes and six-monthly descaling using citric acid your AORA is well cared for. No further dismantling or special cleaning is required.
