How does the activated carbon filter in the carafe work, and what substances does it mainly filter out?
The multi-stage activated carbon filter in our carafe utilises the highly porous surface of activated carbon to bind pollutants through adsorption. It effectively filters out chlorine, chlorine compounds, odours and tastes (e.g. from old pipes), organic impurities and some pesticides. In addition, the filter contains a special mineralising granulate which adds valuable minerals such as magnesium and calcium to the water and slightly raises the pH level. Heavy metals such as lead and copper are also reduced.
